August vacation pics, a California Camping Experience
Vacation snuck up on us and we didn’t have firm plans so on the spur of the moment we decided to go camping, gotta take advantage of being a small family while we can. Found a nice little campground in Julian.
Left within hours of finding / making the reservation and arrived with just enough light to setup camp.
Was a beautiful campground with wonderful weather at just over 4000ft elevation. We had an lovely evening, and next day we headed out to Lake Cuyamaca where we rented a row boat.
After about an hour on the lake we noticed some clouds forming.
We weren’t worried and headed back to shore where went about our day, shoping for a BBQ dinner etc.
Arriving back at camp we learnt that the 1st rule of tent camping is — that even if the weather forecast calls for sunny weather all week, it hasn’t rained in months, it will rain on your camping trip, or rather it will pour, there will be torrential rains and hail at your camp site, even if all around it barely drizzled.
Well at least our belonging survived ok, and we had a dry place to sleep unlike a fellow camper’s tent that was rained down.
But we headed out first thing in the morning when we heard that they were expecting rain again.

It looks like Devin was a little uneasy about the water at first, then it looks like he ajusted and was thinking, “this is really cool”.
The fact that he was sitting between Daddy and Mommy probaly had alot to do with his bravery….p.s the pictures you took are worth a thousand words…
